Hello Lovelies,

The thing about makeup is that it doesn’t always have to expensive. Tons of Drugstore products can give high end products a run for their money. While I use both, I’ll always remain loyal to the drugstore products that introduced me to the world of makeup. Hence I have hand-picked some of my favorites to get your started.

lipcream

NYX Matte Lip Cream

Shades : ( In order from left to right – London, Antwerp, San Paulo, Prague, Monte Carlo )

I absolutely love these! This was the first liquid lipstick that I tried a few years ago and I haven’t looked back since. I own San Paulo, London, Antwerp, Monte Carlo and Prague. The doe foot applicator helps to glide on the product with ease and the packaging is simple and sweet. They last about 4 hours and don’t dry up my lips like other matte lip creams; however, I would recommend moisturizing your lips before applying it. It is very lightweight and velvety on the lips, I rarely remember I have some product on, and that’s quite rare with matte finish products. They have a beautiful range from nude, right up to deep purple. There is a shade for all; although my personal favorite is Prague.

A con, I would say, is that it does not last as long as I would like it to. You might also need to apply two coats to get an opaque finish; however, for the price, I am not complaining.

I can never stop raving about these, and I have introduced so many of my friends to these gems, now they all swear by them.

You can find it in Lifestyle or supermarkets for 32 Dhs.

mascara

Maybelline Colossal Mascara

Shade : 100% Black

Every since I started using Maybelline Mascaras I have stopped buying every other brand; even high end mascara brands like Clinique and Clarins don’t come close to these. Maybelline is known for its mascaras and I have tried a couple of them, but in my opinion – the 100% black colossal mascara is the best. This is literally my everyday essential product – they make my lashes look so thick and full that I can often skip eyeliner. The wide brush really helps separate my lashes (just give it a little wiggle while applying) and these are great for double coating. They help curl, lengthen and volumize my lashes and I never need false eyelashes. Once you start using this, be prepared for compliments 😉

You can find it in Lifestyle, Supermarkets or little pop up Maybelline stores in malls for 61 Dhs.

concealer1

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer

2-in-1 concealer and highlighter

Shade: 060-Natural Beige

This is a Holy Grail product! It has a light and creamy consistency that helps conceal and brighten dark circles. I apply this under my eyes in triangles, blend it out with my ring finger and use a sponge to remove any excess product. I then set this with a powder that helps it stay on all day long. It looks flawless and doesn’t crease throughout the course of the day. It’s also great for hiding acne and old scars; however, it’s not the best for redness, so I would recommend using a corrector beforehand. The best thing about this product, is that – because it’s a highlighter along with being a concealer – it really brightens your eyes; perfect to make you look more awake in the mornings. I personally don’t use it as a highlighter for contouring my face – I prefer the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer for that – but I’ve heard this works well too.

The only place of concern for this product is the packaging. You always end up with a ton left in the container that you can’t get to without opening it and using a brush to get it out. And also, if you accidentally squeeze out extra product, it is nearly impossible to put it back; so you have to be really careful. But nonetheless, it’s a great product that I would definitely recommend.

You can find it in Lifestyle or supermarkets for 32 Dhs.

And finally , I am planning on doing this series in parts , so keep an eye out for the next part <3

Tip of the day – Stay Simple.
